March 24, 2020: CSA has put into place a number of changes to adapt to the ever-evolving situation with COVID-19 and the Shelter-In-Place order. Most noticeably, the lobby is currently closed to the general public, but the agency is hard at work behind closed doors to continue to assist those in need while protecting clients, volunteers, and staff.
Maintaining access to services for those in need is of utmost importance in these difficult times. For existing clients who wish to speak to a Case Manager or those newly in need of services, please call the mainline at 650-968-0836 and leave a message. Someone will call back within 48 hours.
An increasing number of people in the community are in need of food and CSA will not turn anyone away. Food distributions are being held in our parking lot on the following schedule: Tuesdays 2-4pm, Thursdays 11:30am-1:30pm, and Fridays 1:30-3:30pm. For those in a high-risk group who are unable to come in person to CSA, Second Harvest of Silicon Valley is offering home delivery of food. Call 1-800-984-3663 weekdays from 8am to 5pm to be placed on their list.
CSA has received an outpouring of support from community members who wish to volunteer. Each and every person is appreciated. Please continue to contact CSA if you are able to volunteer. Email or call Volunteer Coordinator LaDrea Clark at [email protected] or 650-964-4630. Please be aware that the Food and Nutrition Center is small and in order to practice social distancing, the number of volunteers who can assist at any one time is limited.
CSA is accepting both donations of food and monetary contributions. While CSA normally emphasizes access to fresh fruits and vegetables for clients, in this unique situation, packaged items only are requested; i.e., boxed or canned food. Monetary contributions can be made at https://www2.csacares.org/donate/. CSA has set up a special fund to provide assistance for rent, utilities, food and other emergency requests, with all funds raised going directly to these urgent client needs.
Executive Director Tom Myers says, “We are in an unprecedented situation; however, with the help of our caring community members, CSA is well-placed to help those in need. I want to urge everyone to continue to reach out to us if you need help or are willing and able to contribute. Together, we can get through this.”
