CSA relies upon a volunteer force of 500+ individuals to help carry out our safety net services. One of the biggest challenges presented by the pandemic, according to LaDrea Clark, Volunteer Coordinator, was scheduling volunteers to help with food distributions, picking up groceries from our food partners and delivering meals to clients who were advised by the County’s Public Health Department to stay at home.

Over the past year, CSA faced challenges in staffing many volunteer positions due to the pandemic. Here are four volunteers who helped CSA keep our operations running smoothly during this difficult time.

Steven Richards has been volunteering in the Food and Nutrition Center since before the pandemic. He has gone above and beyond, adjusting his schedule when we had a drop of volunteers because of COVID, and now assists three days a week.

Pam Scarberry has been indispensable in helping the Development Department process the enormous outpouring of generosity from our donors, sometimes volunteering as many as five days a week, including numerous trips to the post office to drop off thank you letters.

Derek Wei has been a consistent support to the Senior Case Management team, delivering groceries to seniors as well as checking in on them. He has served in this role kindly and reliably throughout the pandemic.

Jenny Wiersba has been an awesome partner to CSA for many years, picking up food donations for the Food and Nutrition Center every week. She has been dependable before and throughout the pandemic.
