In keeping with our mission to preserve and promote the dignity of our clients, we are holding our second annual daylong event for unhoused clients next month. Billed as Treat Yourself—inspired by the comedy series Parks & Rec—the September 25th event will include games, art activities, and distribution of clothes and personal care items.
Now in its second year, the event was created by Janice Bonello, Director of Homeless Services. “Few of us can comprehend what being homeless is like,” says Bonello. “The homeless population is on survival mode 24/7. It’s exhausting having to spend your day searching for a safe place to sleep and food to eat, not to mention that they often have serious health issues and other challenges too. This event will allow clients to take a break from these harsh realities so they can reenergize and move forward on their journey toward self-reliance.
CSA is seeking donations of new underwear, sports bras, socks, and general clothes for men, women, and children ages to 5-13, as well as travel size shampoo, conditioner, and body wash for hygiene kits to distribute at the event. $10 gift cards to Target and Walmart would also be greatly appreciated. Community members who are interested in supporting the event through an online gift can do so by clicking here. We also looking for volunteers to help with set-up, clean-up, and running the games and activities for participants.
